      At HGMS, we take a unique approach when hiring HGV drivers throughout North West London. After you have submitted your details, one of our experienced team will contact you for the initial phone interview. The recruitment process is carried out in two interviewing phases as outlined below:

       

      First Interview: This is a phone interview and typically lasts for twenty minutes. We ask about your expertise & qualifications during this phase. It is more of a screening call than an interview since a real meeting with each applicant is held at a later date. At this stage, we focus on knowing your driving expertise and working history.

       

      Second interview: It is a detailed interview that is conducted face-to-face with each new driver. It is held at the nearest branch of a brand of Sain-Gobain Building Distribution in North West London. At this stage you will meet with a HGMS team member and will learn more about the work involved and potential benefits, pay and the working hours.

      What Is The Expected Working Radius In North West London?

      The typical working radius for HGMS drivers in North West London is 30 miles from your home branch.

      HGV Working Hours

      The working hours for our drivers is from 0700 hrs to 1700 hrs on weekdays. On Saturdays, the working hours are from 8 am to 12 am which is not compulsory.

      What Does The Work Involve?

      The precise role of our drivers is to make multiple deliveries in a day. You should expect a maximum of 8-12 deliveries of building materials in a day to commercial and residential clients. The deliveries may need manual handling, and in some instances, cranes may be used. At times, you will be expected to carry out some duties in the yard or the warehouse.

      Job Requirements

      You will require the following qualifications and certifications in order to apply for one of our HGV driving roles:

      • LGV 2 (Cat C) Licence with a minimum of 6 months experience and no more than 6 penalty points
      • Full CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) with a valid and up to date DQC (Driver Qualification Card)
      • Digital Tachograph card
      • Lorry Loader (HIAB) Crane Certificate to include brick grab attachment and ideally remote. If you meet the above 3 requirements but do not have your HIAB certificate then please still get in touch as for suitable candidates we can arrange the appropriate training free of charge for you

      You will also be required to demonstrate the following attributes:

      • Carry out the multi drop (average 8 drops per day) of building materials with occasional yard and warehouse duties
      • Carry out vehicle checks to ensure road worthiness
      • Be compliant with Health and Safety, and other related legislation, ensuring the safety of yourself and others at all times.
      • Good communication skills with the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
      • Enthusiastic and reliable with a commitment to delivering 1st class customer service.
